Warm Fig and Prosciutto Goat Cheese Dip Recipe

  • Author: Simon
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 8 servings 1x

Description

This Warm Fig and Prosciutto Goat Cheese Dip is an easy, delicious appetizer combining creamy goat cheese, salty prosciutto, sweet fig jam, and crunchy pistachios. Baked to a warm, melty perfection, it’s perfect for serving with crackers at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz goat cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 4 oz 1/3 less-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 34 oz prosciutto, chopped

Toppings & Serving

  • 1 cup fig jam
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios
  • Crackers, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to fully preheat to ensure even baking of the dip.
  2. Combine Cheeses: In a food processor, add the softened goat cheese and cream cheese and process until smooth and creamy. If you don’t have a food processor, use a stand mixer or beat with a hand-held mixer in a large bowl until fully combined and fluffy.
  3. Add Prosciutto: Transfer the creamed cheeses into a mixing bowl, then fold in the chopped prosciutto evenly to distribute its salty flavor throughout the mixture.
  4. Prepare for Baking: Spoon and spread the cheese and prosciutto mixture evenly into a 9″x7″x2″ baking dish or a similar sized pie pan to create an even layer for consistent baking.
  5. Top with Fig Jam: Carefully spread the fig jam over the surface of the cheese mixture, adding a sweet contrast to the savory cheese and prosciutto.
  6. Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the dip is warmed through but not piping hot.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven, sprinkle the chopped pistachios on top for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor, then serve warm or at room temperature with crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • This dip is best served warm or at room temperature rather than piping hot to better enjoy the contrasting flavors and textures.
  • Use a neutral cracker to allow the dip’s flavors to shine.
  • The softened cheeses should be at room temperature to ensure smooth blending.
  • You can substitute chopped walnuts or almonds if pistachios are not available.
  • For a vegetarian option, use a high-quality vegetarian ham substitute instead of prosciutto.
