Ingredients
Scale
Cheese Mixture
- 8 oz goat cheese, softened to room temperature
- 4 oz 1/3 less-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 3–4 oz prosciutto, chopped
Toppings & Serving
- 1 cup fig jam
- 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios
- Crackers, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to fully preheat to ensure even baking of the dip.
- Combine Cheeses: In a food processor, add the softened goat cheese and cream cheese and process until smooth and creamy. If you don’t have a food processor, use a stand mixer or beat with a hand-held mixer in a large bowl until fully combined and fluffy.
- Add Prosciutto: Transfer the creamed cheeses into a mixing bowl, then fold in the chopped prosciutto evenly to distribute its salty flavor throughout the mixture.
- Prepare for Baking: Spoon and spread the cheese and prosciutto mixture evenly into a 9″x7″x2″ baking dish or a similar sized pie pan to create an even layer for consistent baking.
- Top with Fig Jam: Carefully spread the fig jam over the surface of the cheese mixture, adding a sweet contrast to the savory cheese and prosciutto.
- Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the dip is warmed through but not piping hot.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven, sprinkle the chopped pistachios on top for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor, then serve warm or at room temperature with crackers for dipping.
Notes
- This dip is best served warm or at room temperature rather than piping hot to better enjoy the contrasting flavors and textures.
- Use a neutral cracker to allow the dip’s flavors to shine.
- The softened cheeses should be at room temperature to ensure smooth blending.
- You can substitute chopped walnuts or almonds if pistachios are not available.
- For a vegetarian option, use a high-quality vegetarian ham substitute instead of prosciutto.
