Slow Cooker Candied Cinnamon Pecans Recipe

  • Author: Simon
  • Total Time: 3 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: About 4 cups 1x

Description

These Slow Cooker Candied Cinnamon Pecans are a sweet and crunchy treat perfect for snacking or topping desserts. Slow cooked with a blend of sugars and warm cinnamon, these pecans develop a rich, caramelized coating that’s both crispy and flavorful. Easy to prepare and requiring minimal hands-on time, they make a perfect homemade gift or holiday snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 large egg white (or the egg whites from two small eggs)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup water

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 cups pecan halves
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 5 teaspoons cinnamon

Other

  • Vegetable oil spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare egg white mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the egg white and vanilla extract together until frothy, about 1-2 minutes. This will help the sugars stick to the pecans.
  2. Combine pecans and sugars: Add the pecan halves to the bowl with the frothy egg white mixture, then stir in the sugar, light brown sugar, and cinnamon until the pecans are evenly coated.
  3. Prepare slow cooker: Spray the inside of the slow cooker (crockpot) with vegetable oil spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  4. Cook pecans: Transfer the sugar-coated pecans into the slow cooker and set it on low heat. Cook for 3 hours, stirring every hour to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
  5. Add water and finish cooking: About 30 minutes before the cooking time ends, pour in the ¼ cup of water and stir well. This will help dissolve any remaining sugar and enhance the candied coating.
  6. Cool and crisp: Once cooking is complete, spread the pecans out on a baking sheet in a single layer to cool completely. This step helps the pecans develop a crispy exterior as they dry.

Notes

  • Use fresh pecans for the best flavor and texture.
  • Make sure to stir the pecans regularly during cooking to prevent them from burning or sticking together.
  • Spread pecans out on a baking sheet right after cooking to allow them to crisp fully.
  • Store cooled pecans in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
  • You can adjust the cinnamon amount to your taste preference.
