Salted Caramel Truffles Recipe

  • Author: Simon
  • Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 20 truffles 1x

Description

These Salted Caramel Truffles combine the rich creaminess of sweetened condensed milk and salted caramel sauce with smooth white chocolate, all enrobed in decadent dark or milk chocolate. The perfect balance of sweet and salty, these homemade truffles are elegantly simple to make and ideal for gifting or indulging.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Coating

  • 1 cup dark or milk chocolate (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a microwave-safe bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk, salted caramel sauce, and white chocolate chips to prepare the truffle base.
  2. Heat Mixture: Warm the combined ingredients in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring well after each interval until the mixture is smooth and fully melted without any lumps.
  3. Add Salt and Chill: Stir in the sea salt evenly, then pour the mixture into a lined baking dish. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.
  4. Shape the Truffles: Once chilled, use a spoon or small scoop to portion out the mixture into small balls. Roll each ball gently on a parchment-lined sheet to form smooth, even shapes.
  5. Melt Chocolate for Coating: Melt the dark or milk chocolate using a microwave or double boiler method until smooth and glossy.
  6. Dip and Coat: Dip each truffle ball into the melted chocolate ensuring full coverage. Place the coated truffles back onto parchment paper to allow the chocolate to set.
  7. Finish and Serve: Optionally, sprinkle a little sea salt on top of the coated truffles before serving for an extra touch of flavor.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • If the chocolate starts to harden while dipping, reheat gently to keep it smooth.
  • Store the truffles in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • For a firmer texture, chill the coated truffles until the chocolate is fully set before serving.
  • Use parchment paper or silicone mats to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
