Ingredients
Scale
Meat & Vegetables
- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 fat ratio preferred)
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 large bell peppers (green, red, or mixed), diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Dairy & Cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
- 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
Other Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Sauté Vegetables. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 5-6 minutes until softened and fragrant. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
- Cook Ground Beef. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 7-8 minutes until the meat is fully browned and no pink remains. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add Worcestershire Sauce and Cream Cheese. Stir in Worcestershire sauce to coat the meat mixture. Lower the heat to low and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until it melts completely and the mixture is creamy.
- Assemble Casserole. Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Layer torn pieces of provolone cheese over the top, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese as the final layer.
- Bake. Bake the casserole for 22-25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
- Rest and Serve. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
Notes
- You can use different colored bell peppers according to your preference for added flavor and color.
- Make sure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing.
- Drain excess fat from the beef to reduce greasiness if desired.
- This casserole can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
- For extra spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when cooking the vegetables.
