Ingredients
Scale
Monkey Bread Dough
- 2 cans biscuit dough
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/8 cup ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup butter (use 1/2 cup for less butter)
Simple Glaze
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Prepare the dough balls: Break the biscuits into small pieces and roll each piece into balls approximately 3 tablespoons in size.
- Grease the pan: Grease a deep-dish loaf pan or bundt pan thoroughly with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix cinnamon sugar: In a medium bowl, combine the ground cinnamon and sugar and stir well.
- Coat the dough balls: Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Layer the dough: Place a single layer of coated dough balls into the bottom of the greased pan. Sprinkle 1/8 cup of brown sugar evenly over this layer.
- Add second layer: Add another layer of dough balls on top and sprinkle the remaining 1/8 cup brown sugar over it. Depending on pan size, you should have two layers; extra dough may not be needed.
- Add butter and extra cinnamon sugar: Melt the butter and pour it evenly over the layered dough. Then sprinkle leftover cinnamon sugar mixture on top for extra flavor.
- Bake: Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for about 45 minutes, or until the monkey bread is golden brown and cooked through. Check baking times on the biscuit packaging if needed.
- Make the glaze: While baking, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth to create a simple glaze.
- Serve: Once baked, drizzle the glaze over the warm monkey bread before serving. Pull apart and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use a bundt pan instead of a loaf pan for a more traditional shape.
- Adjust butter quantity to reduce richness if preferred.
- Ensure the bread is fully cooked through to avoid doughy centers.
- Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
- Leftover bread can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
