Easy Monkey Bread Recipe

  • Author: Simon
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This Easy Monkey Bread Recipe is a delightful pull-apart treat made from biscuit dough rolled in cinnamon sugar, layered with brown sugar and butter, then baked to golden perfection. Finished with a simple powdered sugar glaze, it’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Monkey Bread Dough

  • 2 cans biscuit dough
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter (use 1/2 cup for less butter)

Simple Glaze

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough balls: Break the biscuits into small pieces and roll each piece into balls approximately 3 tablespoons in size.
  2. Grease the pan: Grease a deep-dish loaf pan or bundt pan thoroughly with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Mix cinnamon sugar: In a medium bowl, combine the ground cinnamon and sugar and stir well.
  4. Coat the dough balls: Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  5. Layer the dough: Place a single layer of coated dough balls into the bottom of the greased pan. Sprinkle 1/8 cup of brown sugar evenly over this layer.
  6. Add second layer: Add another layer of dough balls on top and sprinkle the remaining 1/8 cup brown sugar over it. Depending on pan size, you should have two layers; extra dough may not be needed.
  7. Add butter and extra cinnamon sugar: Melt the butter and pour it evenly over the layered dough. Then sprinkle leftover cinnamon sugar mixture on top for extra flavor.
  8. Bake: Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for about 45 minutes, or until the monkey bread is golden brown and cooked through. Check baking times on the biscuit packaging if needed.
  9. Make the glaze: While baking, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth to create a simple glaze.
  10. Serve: Once baked, drizzle the glaze over the warm monkey bread before serving. Pull apart and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use a bundt pan instead of a loaf pan for a more traditional shape.
  • Adjust butter quantity to reduce richness if preferred.
  • Ensure the bread is fully cooked through to avoid doughy centers.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
  • Leftover bread can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
