  • Author: Simon
  • Total Time: 30-35 minutes
  • Yield: 3-4 servings 1x

Description

Dilly Salmon is a flavorful and creamy baked salmon dish featuring a zesty dill and lemon mayonnaise topping mixed with Pecorino Romano cheese. This easy-to-make recipe combines fresh salmon filets with a tangy, cheesy, and herbaceous sauce that bakes to golden perfection, delivering a deliciously moist and savory meal perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 34 salmon filets

Creamy Dill Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 4 tbsp grated Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 3 tbsp fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper (divided)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dill sauce: In a measuring cup or bowl, combine 1 cup of mayonnaise, the juice of one lemon, 4 tablespoons of grated Pecorino Romano cheese, 3 tablespoons of freshly chopped dill, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of cracked black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well blended to create a creamy, flavorful sauce.
  2. Season the salmon: Place the 3 to 4 salmon filets evenly in a baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining ½ teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon of cracked black pepper evenly over the salmon to season the fish thoroughly.
  3. Apply the creamy dill topping: Pour the prepared creamy dill mixture evenly over the top of the salmon filets, ensuring each piece is well coated with the sauce to infuse flavor during baking.
  4. Bake the salmon: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Bake the salmon for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tops are browned and the salmon is cooked through. The fish should flake easily with a fork when done. Serve immediately and enjoy this delectable dish.

Notes

  • Adjust baking time based on the thickness of the salmon filets; thicker pieces may require a few extra minutes.
  • Fresh dill is preferred for the best flavor but dried dill can be substituted in a pinch at half the quantity.
  • You can substitute Pecorino Romano with grated Parmesan cheese if necessary.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and consumed within 2 days for optimal freshness.
